David E. Acker, ScD​


David Acker founded several medical device companies including “Biosense”, acquired by Johnson and Johnson, now “Biosense Webster, Inc.”. David holds 33 US Patents for medical devices in the field of minimally invasive surgery. David is the Vice Chairman of the Stony Brook Foundation managing the Stony Brook University endowment.  He is a Member of the Board of Directors of Gradian Health Systems, LLC and an International Advisory Board Member of the Turkana Basin Institute in Kenya. David established and owns Harmony Vineyards. David is a TECLens cofounder.

David received his ScD from Stony Brook University.

Patrick Lopath


Pat Lopath has over 20 years of experience in medical device and pharmaceutical product development. He has a management consulting and operational leadership background in medical device and pharmaceutical companies. Pat is the holder of 17 US patents in medical technology. Pat is a TECLens cofounder.

Pat earned his BSE (Biomedical Engineering) and MBA from Duke University and an MS (Bioengineering) from Penn State.

Frances Chen​

EVP, Business Development​

Frances Chen has over 15 years of experience in investment banking and investment management. Frances worked extensively on M&A and capital market transactions, in both Asia and the U.S., for Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, with a focus on consumer, retail, and healthcare sectors. Most recently, she was a Managing Director based in New York for Fosun Group’s private equity fund, focused on investing in consumer and healthcare sectors in the U.S.

Frances earned a BS in Finance from University of Bridgeport and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.


Paul Harhen​

VP, Engineering​

Paul Harhen has over 35 years of experience in medical device product development and manufacturing.  He has held various engineering and operational management positions at Johnson and Johnson, was the VP and GM of Cogentix, EVP of Engineering and Operatoins at ImaCor. Mr. Harhen is an inventor on 31 US patents in medical technology.

Paul earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.


Kresimir Penavic​

Director, Algorithms​

Kresimir Penavic is a retired Senior Research Scientist at Renaissance Technologies  LLC (1989-2016) who contributed to building the company into one of the world’s largest and most successful hedge fund management companies with assets in excess of $30 billion. He was involved in the development of automated trading systems covering most of the world’s financial markets in equities, treasuries, forex, and futures.

Kresimir earned his MSc in Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University.


Yong Zou​

Director, Software Development​

Yong Zou has over 20 years of research and development background in medical device field and a proven track record in project management in this regulated industry. He has extensive expertise in software development and life cycle management. He has multiple publications and patents.

Yong was the top graduate earning his BS at Peking University, and earned an MS in Computer Science and an MS in Geophysics from Stony Brook University.
